Greeting [a new season]

A poem for the new year.
It is almost cliche
to wish someone greetings
of the present season
but I hope, somehow, someway
that this greeting is only the beginning
of a brand new season
of your flickering soul
renewing
with every bell swaying
clanging
singing
healing
even as the carols are fading
into January
I pray a shelter
over your fragile fire
a wall to guard it from the wind
I ask for new fuel for the dying flame
on your precious candle
May the breath of God, blow
rekindling your hope, your desire
when you again face the valley
of the ordinary
