I have posted a new poem that many will consider controversial and I may get negative responses, but I realise as a true writer I can't and don't want to please everyone and I will not. I have not posted a blog in a while, because of many issues... but after watching the CNN special on being black in America and then contemplating on some of the things stated... I felt to write the poem. I have posted a new poem that many will consider controversial and I may get negative responses, but I realise as a true writer I can't and don't want to please everyone and I will not. Also, it is only MY OPINION. I have not posted a blog in a while, because of many issues... but after watching the CNN special on being black in America and then contemplating on some of the things stated... I felt to write the poem. Many will never know the reality of an issue unless they walk through or know of others who walk through it, so it's easy to judge from the outside and judge unrighteously. I love my race (black) and its heritage and potential, so I do not address from a stance of superiority. I know there are exceptions to every situation, but I aim as a writer to consciously be a voice that expresses issues that are real and sometimes painfully personal with the hope of putting an air of empowerment in all. Yeah, I know I may be wrong at times as we all do... but I know to some black young men that the fears and concerns expressed in the documentary and in the poem are very real. They live it out day to day. In the past I know I have not heeded those voices of fears and concerns, but I realise I now want to and have to listen and contribute hope in the little way I can.
