Goodbye to a devoted, loving, canine family member. Clutch Clutch was my youngest son's dog. Clutch wasn't just a dog, he was an amazing dog. A white, "American Bull Terrier". Not a very popular Breed. Not mine either, but it has nothing to do with the Breed, it's what humans make them.
I stand corrected. Not all humans, some, but enough to give them a bad reputation. There's good and bad in everything.
In the (10) years of his life, he was the babysitter, a sleeping companion, when the Boogie Man was under the bed.
An excellent cliff diver and swimming Buddy.
Lost keys? Clutch would sniff his way through the house, until he found them, then bring them to you.
Too lazy to find your shoes? Tell Clutch to get them, he'll bring them to you.
Clutch climbed trees,
Closed doors
Played dead
Danced on his hind legs in a circle, right and left,
Added, subtracted, multiplied and divided numbers, giving the answers with the correct amount of barks. (a trick my son taught him to do. It's all in the eyes)
Along with a multitude of other entertaining things. Fourty-nine commands in all.
His birthday was the same as mine, (I'm his human Gammy).
There were long periods of time when I didn't see Clutch, only when I went to see my family on vacation, but he never forgot his Gammy. He was just as happy to see me, as my other Grandchildren.
It almost seems like he has always been a part of our family. Spread apart through several states, we all keep in touch pretty regular. An update on the children and Clutch.
What a dear little soul he was. Guarding his family faithfully, for all his years. Herding those two little girls in the front yard, because there wasn't a fence.
Sitting on the limb of a tree, balancing a can of Budweiser on top of his head. (Clutch climbed the tree, my son put the Budweiser on his head.) I have a picture of that one somewhere. He was just an incredible little Being, who couldn't talk.
Clutchy, you finished your job here, loving your family unconditionally. And you did a fine job, raising my other two Grandchildren, all the way into their teens. A difficult job by anyone's standards.
You gave a little of yourself to everyone, but first and foremost, you gave all of yourself to your Master.
It's been a true joy, to have shared these years with you, as a part of our family. You will be so missed.
My heart is sad today, not for Clutch, I know he's alright. But for the family who misses him, so much.
He was a good pal.
