Received my first Amazon ranking today - but what does it mean? Stags! has now got an Amazon ranking (within the UK Kindle store) of 24,513. Yesterday it was 18,000ish, so I thought I'd do a bit of research to see how it works.
Basically, it is reviewed on an hourly basis, so if you make a sale in one hour you will get a high ranking, then with no further sales you will gradually drop down the ranking, but you wont disappear altogether. So if you havent got a ranking, (as I have not in the Amazon US Kindle store), then you have not sold any!
Some titles have rankings in the hundreds of thousands, which probably means they have sold the same amount as myself, but some time ago.
My next plan is to do a press release through Webwire. Anyone done this before? Was it effective? I will let you know how I get on.
