Publishing success for an aquaintance... An aquaintance of ours, an ex-policeman now ordained Anglican Vicar has had success with the publishing of his novel. Graham Taylor wrote a childrens book called 'Shadowmancer' about Christianity and black magic in the 18th century. He was told by a publisher he sent it to that no one would be interested in such a book! So Graham sold his motorbike to get the money to self-publish at a cost of £3500.00 The publishing company Faber did publish it and it now ranks sixth in the children' fiction best selling list in Britain and Penguin Putnam Books are to release it in May 2004. Graham has received a £314,000 advance for his book. It is great to hear of someone having success like this and I bet the publisher who turned it down is now kicking himself in the backside.
