Senator John Kerry looks sad as if there is some kind of a dark shadow shrouding his face. Even his smiles don't appear to be cheerful.
Hi, LGL:
Will you vote for John Kerry this November? If you will, why? To me, the senator looks sad as if there is some kind of a dark shadow shrouding his face. Even his smiles don't appear to be cheerful.
As I mentioned before, I was born in Shanghai, China, a country with a mystic culture where some people including myself tend to have certain superstitious beliefs on such subjects as physiognomy. It says a man's facial features and expressions may indicate if he has luck or not.
For example, when I see a face without cheer, I tend to suspect that the man may not have much luck. On the other hand, when I see a face like that of Bill Clinton, I would say the man has luck, though I totally disagree with his policy positions.
During the 1990s, many folks on Wall Street believed Bill Clinton was the Street's "Luck Kid". They disliked Ken Starr and hoped "that woman Ms Lewinsky" would go away.
History has already provided ample proof that Bill Clinton has been a lucky guy.
Shortly after he took office, the economy started to recover, allowing Clinton to take credit. "White Water" didn't drown him. Paula Jones couldn't discredit him because the public thought she was just making up outrageous stories.
Things were so good that Clinton could afford to just ride the good times and have some fun with Lewinsky in the Oval Office while talking to high-ranking officials on the phone about National Security. More importantly, he got re-elected with ease despite all this.
Yet, his vice president Al Gore clearly has little luck. No matter how loudly Gore shouts, luck just passes by him. Nothing works him. Whatever horse Gore bets on is likely to stumble at the last moment.
Now, comes Senator John Kerry. Make a bet. Do you think Kerry will win or lose? What I can say is: Kerry doesn't look like "the Luck Kid" to Wall Street. But Wall Street is the economy which needs some "Luck Kid", not a sad-looking face with droopy eyebrows.
