How many artists Lost in 2006.and what it means in 2007. When I read that one of the Brecker brothers died,I thought back on how many artists wed Lost this last year James Brown/ Richard Pryor/ Tookie Williams/ (of the Movie Monster and founder of the Crips and Pulitzer Prize Nominated artist exicuted)Just to name a few that will never change the World agin with their Original Talent.
Less Political and social commetary Via Richard Pryor via the power of the Laughter he provoked.I remember being in a Deep depression Pregnant with my sons father in The movie thetre watching 'Live on Sunset Strip'and by the time I came outI felt.like I can do this alone If I have to I have me and My son,and I can laugh and I feel sad for you that you can't and want to make the world sad in your presence sorry for YA!.It Impowered me.
And James Brown the Groove, the Funk.He was the Sophisticated 'George Clinton'I was raised on him at the apollo theatre, as my James BrownPoem speaks.
And 'Tookie' my poem Leave Warriors home tell of his strength to 'Give'back even thogh the road that he was thrust upon and traveled on.
And so Many more I mention all this as I found out that one friend died 4months ago aman I knew for over half my life.and today I found out about my friend Doc.Somehow I remember the last things my friends have tould me.
I try to keepthere special wisdom in my heart and become stronger.Its so hard thoughas I know the past is the past never to be seen again,But the scarie aspect is that their will never be a part of their Genius to couple with out present times.
Like James brown could go back and reach into the blues muddy waters,chubby checker miles davis for the Brecker brothers Redd Foxx for Richard Pryor etc.but their is no 'modern day artist' that are not going just for the money.For the Glamour,and if they say there not fine then they act snottie until they get the publicity.
They become the same.Who will they draw upon for there Foundation of art and Culture.all Total a HUGE chunk of artistic Culture has been lost in 2006. More than any other years I think.I suppose nothing will change until the 'people' and the Celebretys come together instead of the Ceebritys 'Jackin'(ripping off)'the art from the underground rappers and artists.And Corperates stop Exploting the artists and the People.
