Castle and...Boz! If you followed my blog last year and even earlier, you know I am not much of a fan...except for my sudden and surprising enthusiasm for the TV series Castle. It is a hit indeed and a pleasure to watch...a writer and a police detective work together. The cast of characters just clicks. Season Two ended on a contrived note, but I suppose the writers did not realize they could have kept the romantic tension going in other ways..they also don't seem to realize that even when our heroes do show love for one another the fun between them need not end.
I think his 'writer' personality is not explored enough...
Now, Boz!
I discovered this musician when my radio station switched from oldies to 70s/80s music...last summer I heard their limited repertoire over and over...and only two tunes stood out: my long loved Long Tall Woman in a Black Dress (Hollies) and Dirty Low Down by Boz Scaggs...
Dirty Low Down sports the lyrics of a Blue collar Man set to the music of a high sophistication band...that contrast amazed and delighted me, as well as the quality of it all.
Santa brought me a Boz Scaggs CD..and that, my friends, is a marvel! Each and every tune on it is a hit with me...can't tell you how rare that phenomenon is!!!
The versatility of Boz astounds..disco, ballad, love song, ragtime, jazzy stuff...I'm just delighted. I've darn near worn the CD player out. :)))
And then there's the incredible humor in 'Geargia'! I listened to that song about five times before I caugfht the two lines that exlain it all...and it is funny! Apart from the wonderful music...
I'm thirty years late in my discovery, but Mr Scaggs! Thank you for endless delight...I wish you the best of success!
