When cheese and peanutbutter don't work, what would you do? Howdy,
did you notice my lengthy absence from AD? Maybe, maybe not...do you have advice for me? maybe, maybe not...but right now I'm at the computer...still straining my eyes -- oh, I do need new glasses...I've worn the same 'computer glasses' for 30 years until last winter..of a sudden they quit working for me...
I digressed..that is the beauty of the blog, isn't it...one can let one's focus jump...
Back to my topic...since about two weeks we have rodents in the house...I've seen one mouse on a book shelf where it jumped over some video tapes and also I've seen one in the den here...where it clung to the wall right above a window...I was closing the curtain. It dropped out of sight.
I felt put out because a few months ago my dear hunter cat caught a mouse outside in the backyard. He didn't kill the little thing and I carried it fairly far away and released it. I thought it was cute, all trembling...and here we are haunted by these critters. Inside, Cat can't hunt..the mice are inside the hollow walls, in closets and on high shelves...we hear them! Do they ever make a clatter...
Now, poison is out of the question..the mice could track the bait crystals and kill my cat..he also might pick one up that has poison in it...the old-fashioned traps with wires...good grief... I looked at one and couldn't figure it out.
So I bought these modern spring traps...put cheese and peanutbutter in the bait holes and placed them all over the place...but our mice are gourmets..they spurned the offering.
I actually hate the idea of killing them, but they just won't leave the house!
Has anyone tried those noise repellers one tugs into electric outlets? would they hurt the Cat? or disturb him?
Other than that it has been a long hot and stressful summer..right now it is beautiful and I blew a lot of leaves around..get to bag them maybe tomorrow.
You might wonder why I didn't get new glasses for computer work yet...I tried. My doc measured my eyes for long distance and driving..that worked half ways..I can watch TV with them..about five or six feet of a distance. I also got reading glasses which worked well for a few months but no longer offer sharp vision...neither glasses work for the computer distance.
My vision changes frequently...for that I now see two moons instead of one...makes for an interesting night life.
Yes, the owls, possums, raccoons still keep me awake and busy...not so many brown flesh-eating crickets this year, no yellow jacket attacks either...
More of the good telling another time... maybe tomorrow, maybe later.

PS: Please overlook typos...I can't stand using a magnifying glass while I'm typing. ;7 oh rats, I can't stand errors either...so I just did edit -- a little.
