Record setting... 6/6/2011 9:24:27 AM
A new decade, a new year, new records re weather... ...new this and that, but mostly new extremes...during the last two years, we had the heatwaves already in June...normally, the upper 90s F occurred in July and August. But this year we were hit with record heat already at the emd of May and right now...once these heat waves settle in, they stick around for weeks...this one has broken records for the area.
The tornadoes that brought such devastation were record breaking numerous earlier this spring...the hard rains were extreme but not unprecedented...so many storms casued me to turn off the PCs juist about nightly...
So it was a sort of record for me...being totally unable to work at the PC.
All of the above is neither entertaining nor exciting nor really 'news'...I just thought I'd say hello to you, my faithful readers, and extend my best wishes to you in the hope you were spared...(wildfires also are already in the picture)
On the writing front, I lag far behind...I still hope to publish the poems book, but typically during the big heat, I don't have the energy or time...lots of yard work awaits for cooler days and sleep is a luxury...sitting outside during the nights guarding against raccoons and so forth...
That's about if from me for now...
Oh, a grocery bagger just offered me reassurance today..I had forgotten to buy ice bags to place on top of my 'refrigerator' food..so I said, I need to focus these days at my age. To which inane remark he replied he did too...we older ones have more on our minds than young people...I suppose he was right?
