Outdoor markets finished today and I not only move inside, but I can get back to my computer ... and writing! Happy Thanksgiving Canadians and Columbus Day to our friends to the south! A perfect day with family to end another great summer season. As the season at Bastion Square progressed this summer more and more wonderful people came by to see me knowing I was there. Many thanked me for writing books and some even got aggitated with me--wondering why I was at the market instead of being home writing! It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, especially when they tell me they are waiting eagerly for the next book.
Bastion was good to me again this year and my books have gone to some new countries and many scores of new readers from all over the world. Some repeat customers said they only came back to Victoria to find me and the next book.
I hope you good people realize that you don't need to find me anymore--my books can be ordered from your own local bookstore. I love to see you and sign your books, of course, but I am told I will not be around forever and bookstores have to discover our books or I will disappear into writer's oblivion. The years are going by and many days in the near future you won't find me in the market as next year I hope to have my other knee replacement surgery. Thus, doing shows is going to be tricky. Joyce is getting her knees done as well!! Our appearance at markets may be scarce or sporadic, at best, in the next 2 years.
That said, this year our winter season begins on Oct. 21st and goes right through to Dec. 12th. We are looking forward to meeting many of our old friends and making new friends at these Christmas shows. To find us, check out: www.jrobertwhittle.com/signings.html
