Series begun as a short story for our grandchildren, and became the chapter book "Leprechaun Magic," spawns first sequel "3 On A Moonbeam", coming in August/04
Now known as the "Moonbeam Series", the popular early-reader chapter book, "Leprechaun Magic," will soon have a sequel much to the delight of thousands of young fans all over North America. "3 On A Moonbeam" is now at the printer and will be available this summer on our website and in bookstores (by order).
This series, developed by my wife, Joyce Sandilands, began as one of my imaginative ideas. It was published by Whitlands Publishing under both our names in 2000 as a chapter book for the early reader or as a "Read To Me" book for readers sometimes as young as 3-years-old
This fairy story is set in Fairyland and features Moonbeam Riders who help Earth kids solve their problems. It seems to have filled a necessary niche for children who still loved fairy stories, were too young for Harry Potter, but wanted to read themselves. Joyce also narrated the audio book.
In Book 2, our granddaughter Shayla, is the Earth child with the problem and she and Grandma are planning to do this audio (talking) book together. Such fun - we'll keep you posted how it goes in August.
Note: Robert gave his blessing to Joyce to continue the series in Book 2 after so many requests for a sequel came in from parents, kids and grandparents. We are both busy at outdoor markets and Joyce is trying desperately to find time to get back to Lizzie editing. Have a great summer.
