Although it meant juggling in a big way previously announced projects at THE BLACK SKYLARK Z-PED MUSIC PLAYER, I recently completed a series of interview profiles on the internationally acclaimed artist known as Pleasant. It’s quite a pleasure to announce that the first of these was published last week as a cover story for the weekly entertainment news magazine, CONNECT SAVANNAH. The second has now served to revive my Creative Conversatin’ Interview Series.  Entitled Creative Conversatin’ with the Artist Known as Pleasant, I hope the many readers who have followed the series will enjoy this rare glimpse into the genius-filled life and work of an extraordinary talent.

          With the cover story in CONNECT SAVANNAH balancing things out on the prose front, ESSENCE Magazine recently revealed the forthcoming publication of my poem, Lady on the Lake, in their October issue to balance things out on the poetry front.  The publication of Lady on the Lake in the magazine marks something of a milestone for this particular poet-author as it will be the fifth time this year my work appears in it and the tenth time (so far as poetry goes) since December 1999. Not exactly an anniversary or anything but close enough for this writer.  

The Creative Conversatin’ Interview Series actually received its initial launch via an interview with ESSENCE Magazine poetry editor Angela Kinamore, and continued with jazz musician and poet Toussaint St. Negritude. The third installment for the series originally was supposed to feature Miriam Center, founder of the Daughters of Destiny women’s support group and author of Scarlett O’Hara Can Go To Hell. That plan was postponed (not cancelled) with a journey Ms. Center had to make to Prague and with my own re-immersion into freelance literary journalism. Plans are still on to feature Ms. Center in the series and also the poet and Washington Post literary critic, Darryl Lorenzo Wellington.  

Literary variety has been and remains a mainstay of THE BLACK SKYLARK Z-PED MUSIC PLAYER since its inception in January 2005. To all those who continue to support the site with your visits and comments: Much Gratitude.
