A few days before hurricane Ike started to blow his nose toward Texas, I enjoyed the good fortune of participating in a podcast interview with Texan and fellow CTI member Marlive Harris . Hopefully, prayerfully, Ike’s fury will steer clear of Marlive’s abode and all will remain well with her and other citizens of the great state.

We had a lot of fun with this interview as Luther opened windows to the realms of his psyche and shared insights into the creative dynamics and philosophy that drive the creation of his art. As for me, I was inspired by Marlive’s kindness and actually dared to do two things I rarely do publicly these days: 1) I talked about the impact of Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign on my writings, especially upon the poem Midnight Flight of the Poetry Angels . And 2), I presented from ELEMENTAL a reading of “The Light That Never Dies.” I haven’t done recitals or open mics for a while, so that was a biggie for me. Kind of glad I talked myself, with some help from Marlive, into doing it.
