This is a busy time in our household. We're planning our daughter's big wedding and getting ready for my third book (The Haunting) to come out.
Let me back up a little bit here. I write Gothic Mysteries, that is a combination of Gothic elements combined with a who-dun-it or how-dun-it. Although I use the recurring characters of two little old ladies and their niece who've started a private detective agency specializing in murders, all my books are written as stand-alones, so they can be read in any order.
Because I strive for realism, I've been researching ghosts for the past several years and have a nonfiction newsletter about them
So anyway, I've been having meetings with caterers, florists, dress makers, you name it, I've been at a meeting with them. I've been to churches, halls, banquette rooms in and out of hotels, and bakeries.
I'm also in the beginning stages of planning the promo of my new book coming out, getting reviews, interviews, on chats, and will soon be contacting bookstores about holding signings.
I'm also finishing my fourth book, The Christmas Party, about a woman who wakes up from her nap on Christmas Eve to find her entire family murdered, their bodies strewn throughout the house. I was telling my husband's cousin about it at a recent dinner, and she choked on her wine. She tried to smile, but it came out as more of a grimace, and her eyes grew huge. I think I startled her. She's actually a very nice lady, a school teacher with a lovely home. Unfortunately, her two dogs are just as friendly as she is. Now, I don't have anything against dogs. But when they physically enter my purse, I draw the line. After her's did that, I promptly contacted a sinus infection that took three prescriptions. (I'm allergic to dog hair) Well, for that matter, I'm also allergic to cat hair, but I'm not about to get rid of our cat. So the bottom line here is I really like her a lot, but refuse to go back to her home.
I'm going to the dentist tomorrow. God, I hate going. I should have been to one earlier than this, and I tried, God, how I tried to find a good one. I'm still trying. Tomorrow's my third visit to a new dentist in three months. I was going to one, until he turned violent. So I quit going to him. Then I went to another dentist who was running late and wanted me to wait four hours. So tomorrow is visit number 3 to yet another dentist (who hopefully caters to cowards.)
So, that's it for now. I hope I did this right.
Take Care,
Ayn
