Blog Entry Two = When you're going one way while the world goes another The bad news is I'm slow to enter blogs. The good news is I'm writing up a storm --- except for last week.
Have you ever gone in one direction, only to find out everyone else was going the opposite way? I knew last week was going to be a bummer. I could see it coming. But I had to go along because of the forces set in motion the previous week. Well, let me back up a little bit.
I knew this period was going to be stressful. My third book, the Haunting, is coming out in July. Unfortunately however, I can't start scheduling Book Signings (an integral part of my promo) because I don't know how much my books are going to cost or how long it takes to get them. At least I don't know yet. I'm guesstimating though I'll be able to get them in September ... one month before my daughter's huge wedding. Unfortunately, I found out I need six dental procedures (for a lack of a better word)craming them into 3 visits at $800.00 each!! So I have to work those in somehow. And I'm putting the finishing touches on my fourth book, The Christmas Party. I write a book a year. I've completed this last one... but I tend to hold onto things, changing a word here, a word there. So sometime during that period, I'll be sending it off, going through the usual nail biting, self-doubting, terrible trauma I have when I let go of things into which I'm poured my soul.
My stress is compounded by our daughter's elaborate plans for Oct. 9th. Now, we're going to have someone to play the trumpet to announce all our guests at the reception. Just why we need one, I haven't the vaguest clue, but since she already paid the guy, we have no choice but to go through with it. That, unfortunately, is the only thing she's paying for. We're paying for the rest.
And in the midst of this melee, my husband has decided to repaint all the walls in our house. I'm not why he chose now, but I'm sitting here getting high on paint fumes. I'm a little puzzled though, because the man works a 40 hour a week job. You'd think he'd want to relax in the evenings and week-ends. But he refuses to budge. He's made his decision, and hell or high water, he's going through with it.
So while I'm going one way, trying to concentrate on what I have to do, people are going the other, determined to do what they feel they have to do.
