Watching the waves
with him she makes an angle
in contemplation:
green weed and white foam break
on the beach with falling mood
RK Singh�s poetry is so simple that at first I find his work deceptive. It is only after given his poem a break, and then reading and re reading it that I discover the hidden levels in his work.
This poem conjures the picture of a man and a woman standing on the shore at dusk, and as she is watching the seaweed drift in with the foaming tide she places her head on his shoulder (�makes an angle�) for he is taller than her. The full colon as a grammatical device suggests that the poem is actually her thoughts on the moment. Interestingly, I think a semi-colon were placed in its stead would suggest that the thoughts belonged to the poet.
The �falling mood� is the excitement and buzz of the day becoming the quiet and reflection of the night.
