I have a dear friend who is a wonderful poet who writes lovely phrases and flowing verses...but I just don't get it. There must be something wrong with me. Poetry is almost universally regarded as the ultimate form of the written word...but the reason eludes me. What is it that others see that to me is merely words...words combined into a mysterious and unfathomable meaning? I've always thought of myself as a fairly intelligent person, but poetry makes me sometimes wonder...
