The story behind Christopher A. and Christopher J. 10/22/2006 6:56:40 AM
This poem came about in 2003, during a charity drive held at work. One of our departments sold stars bearing the names of those who perished in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. While perusing the stars my co-workers bought, I was stopped short by one bearing the name "Christopher J. Blackwell." Having a young son named "Christopher A." it created an entire swell of feelings...and, of course, set my muse to speaking about the coincidence. That inspired the poem, and after scanning a copy of the heroic firefighter's picture, made the two images the centerpiece of this poem.
