To be able to think rationally is like having money
When I was still a Topo-cadastral and Engineering Surveying student, I had a friend who was colour blind; he studied Pharmacology. We attended Physics classes together. It never seemed to worry him that he was colour blind – he knew nothing else; colour was only a word to him. He was physically impaired and could do nothing about it.
When I for example mentioned to him that the sea (we were studying in Cape Town) had a particular lovely colour on a particular day, he only shrugged his shoulders – it meant nothing to him.
Years later, I was thinking about the ‘mental’ impairment of atheist and sceptics. When they looked at the world, they could only see the physical aspects of it. Anything that was not physical was completely outside their mental realm. It did not exist for them. The words spirit, soul, and mind meant nothing to them. They were mentally impaired and could do nothing about it!
These poor atheists and sceptics look at the universe and never see the creation. Theirs are truly deprived souls! They are seriously caught up in the materialistic aspects of the universe (nature) and will never realise that the universe could be so much more than just its obvious physicality! Nevertheless, what they miss out on in life, they try to compensate for by their arrogance!
To be able to think rationally (or scientifically) is like having money; it is very useful and it will solve many of your problems, but it will not solve all your problems and you cannot buy everything – some things are not for sale or do not have a price.
At least my colour-blind friend was never arrogant!
