Hurricane season has arrived in Florida. Now my problem has changed. It's raining buckets here, thanks to our first tropical storm of the year, Arlene. I should be getting lots of writing done, right?
Although it's hard to stay perky and inspired on a gloomy day, things ARE moving along with my work-in-progress, ROCKY'S ROAD TO LOVE. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you know that I *love* transformation stories. Although I'll never be as good as Charles Dickens at this, I keep writing them.
ROCKY is a transformation story. First, my heroine, Mary Jo, is plain. She accepts that she's "beauty challenged" until a cosmetics consultant gives her a free makeover. Suddenly Mary Jo sees new possiblities.
But the real transformations in this story aren't physical. The working title suggests that this is Rocky's story as he discovers the true meaning of love and family. His physical transformation is in the back-story, when he and Mary Jo were high school friends. He dates and later marries the hottest babe in school, Vickie, who later dumps him for a wild, party guy.
Rocky and Mary Jo both learn that real beauty comes from the inside. I'm enjoying their journey along ROCKY'S ROAD TO LOVE. As they learn and grow, they fall in love with each other and live happily ever after, right?
Wrong! Vickie experiences her own transformation and learns a few lessons, too. She'll be back to shake things up on ROCKY'S ROAD TO LOVE.
Okay, back to writing. Stay dry and cool, but it won't be easy if you live in the southeast!
