How Can I Stop My Man From Cheating?... 1/28/2008 12:03:58 PM
This is in response to the many emails that I receive from women wanting to know "How Can I Stop My Man From Cheating?"...
First you must understand not "why do men cheat?" but "why does YOUR man cheat?"
Unfortunately, there is no correct answer for the question, "Why Do Men Cheat?" Men cheat for many different reasons. But first, let's acknowledge the fact that men are not the only one's who cheat. Women cheat also and are known to be better at it than men.(read all the juicy details in my book.)
Relationship topics are so appealing because DRAMA will always exist. (why do you imagine our books are so successful?) Most relationships are dysfunctional at some point. While researching for "I Need Therapy" one of the questions that I asked men was "Why Do Men Cheat?" Needless to say, I got very different answers from each.
Some men cheat based on the physical aspects. Since men are visually stimulated by nature, a nice body and a pretty face is reason enough for some men to cheat. Some say they do it because they're not getting what they want and need at home. Some cheat to see if they "still got it."
Some men feel that because they are the primary source of financial support that gives them the right to cheat. And the list of lame excuses go on and on. Because that is what these are... lame excuses.
We all know that some of the most beautiful women in the world have been betrayed in a relationship. So women sometimes find themselves asking questions such as "If Halle Berry can't keep her man, what kind of hope is there for me?" But ladies check this...when a man lies, cheats, deceives and betrays, it is not your fault. It doesn't mean that you have done something wrong. We are quick to blame ourselves but we are not responsible for the choices that men make.
However, there are things that women should do to ensure that their man is happy and satisfied (details in I Need Therapy). Men who are fulfilled on all levels are less likely to cheat. But sometime a woman won't do the things she should to contribute to her man's happiness becauses... she's had a hard day, she's too tired from being with the kids, or she just doesn't have time.
If you are confident that you are doing your all to please your man and he still cheats, then it's not about him anymore...it's about you...
If you suspect your man of cheating, know that number one, there is nothing you can do to stop it. Following him, checking his cell phone and email is not going to make him stop. This type of behavior only makes him better at covering his tracks.
However, you can take control of your life...
Although you cannot stop a man from cheating (without ending up spending the rest of your life
