Another Day in "Paradice" 9/20/2008 9:22:30 PM
It is spelled correctly...life is one big gamble. Hello and greetings from Paradice.I am so thankful to be here on this site and to have the caring and encouraging words that my friends send me.Keep me in your prayers as "ya'll" are in mine.
It has been a good day in Paradice.I was blessed with some wderfully fellowship ,both here and in rl(real life). It's hard to be as sarcastic tonight but I love the humor it brings out of me.So with valiant effort I shall bring forth the description that is the enigma called....Another Day in Paradice....
Well, it has been a busy day here in Paradice. I was up all last night composing a couple works,and believe me,"A little Place Called Home" was work.The poem is of our rowdy lives at about ages 9-13. My little brother(since checked into "Paradise" some 25 years ago now) and I would gather with all the neighborhood boys and be boys...OH Boy, would we be boys..."The names have been changed to protect the innocent"...and in case the statute of limitations hasn't ran out. We were awrny. And yes one of the fellas mom actually let 5 of us ride to church in the trunk of her Mercury. Pete's Bend is a wide spot in Timber Creek, with a tree for diving ,rope swing, and after the Watershed Project, plenty of leeches. Bliss Street would fill up so deep as to overflow the 18" curbs on it's way to the Walnut River and we would swim and a float on air mattress'right down the middle of the road..a main road I might add. One time the local paper even took our pictures, I was the one shallow diving off the curb, and published them front page.
There are so many memories of that little place I call home. Some of you may have heard of it. Each year for the last 20 years,I think Bob and Kendra Redford put on the "Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival" in my home town of Winfield,Kansas. That little town and those fond memories will be with me always. I hope one day to return there and spend some time going to all the old haunts,think I'll skip the jail this time,thank you,and reliving where we knew life to be adventurous and simple. Many have moved away or died...some are still there and ALL I hope to see one day.It truly was a Paradise in it's own way....Night all....GBY....Randy
