Regarding LA Times articles: “Israel Fortifies Along Border”, “U.S. Strikes Leaves 2 Women, Child dead, angering Iraqis”, and “Radical Shiites in Baghdad Rally for Hezbollah”, of Saturday, July 22, 2006.
Another Middle East crisis. Renewed Lebanon-Israel bombings. Extra small body bags. The illusion of peace again shattered. Where are our World Leaders? Please urge your congressional representatives to immediately step-in to fill the shameful void left by an inept Bush administration. And, yes, do write your local newspapers (see my letter to the LA Times below).

The state of Israel, forged in a legacy of tragedy and bloodshed, has not yet learned that peace through violence is an illusion. Taking this unlearned lesson to heart, the United States persists in its stunningly benighted quest to bomb Iraq into a lasting submission as well.
One wonders, in the shameful absence of meaningful World Leadership, vis-ŕ-vis the United States, the European Union, the United Nations, and the Arab League, how many more extra small body bags are needed to push the shattered people of the Middle East, and indeed Persia and Mesopotamia, to collectively rise up in arms? Certainly Iraq’s cleric, Muqtada Sadr and Lebanon’s Sheik Hassan Nasrallah are poised to help lead the charge.
