Examining Your Doubts
12/10/2006 3:57:19 PM

We often leave the present moment and get into that planning frame of mind when we're aware on some level of the uncertainty of tomorrow. We think that by planning out the events of tomorrow, the day after, and so forth, that we have control over how our life unfolds. But let's first note that there's practical planning based on concrete things

We often leave the present moment and get into that planning frame of mind when we're aware on some level of the uncertainty of tomorrow. We think that by planning out the events of tomorrow, the day after, and so forth, that we have control over how our life unfolds. But let's first note that there's practical planning based on concrete things, like setting what time you're going to meet your friend for lunch tomorrow etc.; you never really experience doubt or anxiety over what time you should meet your friend for lunch tomorrow. The future-oriented planning I'm referring to isn't about this.

The type of planning we're talking about is the one that sends your mind spiralling into anxiety and worry. With this, remember that you really ever only know what you have to do and can do right now, with the things you have all the pieces of the information to right now. You only know the actions you have to take right now. You know nothing about the detailed actions you will have to take tomorrow, because tomorrow isn't even been born yet. The notion of control over the future is an illusion even if you know where tomorrow will take you. You may know where tomorrow will take you, but you will never know or be in control of HOW it will take you there. You may understand and practice that your intentionality co-creates your life, the Laws of Attraction, that the contents of your mind today will co-create your world tomorrow. Do you know HOW the contents of your mind will co-create tomorrow? You don't. This is the mystery to the flow of life.

When you find yourself in that all to familiar state of future-planning, thinking about the what-to-do of tomorrow, planning out the details, the How you're going to do what you think you might need to do, and experiencing doubt or anxiety, check-in and ask yourself what is underneath the appearing train of doubting thoughts. Doubts can be subtle, but your awareness of that alone signifies an opportunity to question yourself and to face the underlying fear. The doubts or sense of uncertainty that arises within you, which then sends your mind spiralling into the future, has an underlying belief. Ask yourself, what is underneath this sense of doubt?

See this subtle current of doubt for what it is. See it as a fear of being let down, because underneath it all there's the belief that without your control, without your future-oriented planning, life will let you down. Who has let you down before? Who has let you down today? Who is it that's letting you down in this present moment? Who was it that let you down in life? As you face these questions, you can see the underlying fear for what it is, another old subtle pattern in the groove of your mind that says "life doesn't work out" – that's essentially the undercover belief these doubts point to. Is this true for you?

Relax in this present moment and trust life. Give up yourself, your illusion of control, to what's at hand. It is not your anticipatory planning that will accomplish anything. Recognize and know the power that is at work. Trust the inner-impulse of life and trust what you have learned and what you see. Trust life. Trust that the Universe expressing itself through you knows where it is going and How it's going to get there, How it's going to take you there.
