POETS, UNITE!!!
Poets Inking for the Global Good is at it again, rounding up poetry from around the globe, and selling them for charitable causes.
Our current project is being received with much enthusiasm; It's Christmas Cards for Haiti. PIGGY INK's hand-crafted cards feature Banana Leaf Art made by remote villagers in Haiti, and fabulous poetry by Bernice Angoh. 90% of all the proceeds from the sale of the cards go to SION FONDs. http://www.sionfonds.org Check it out.
They use these and other funds to educate the children in remote Haitian villages, where otherwise there would be none. They teach job skills to adults, send medical teams there-- some of the places are so remote, that you have to hike many miles to get there.
Haiti is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. 50% of Haitian children never reach adulthood. 70% of the country is illiterate. And many thousands of children are homeless, helpless, and starving. The luckiest ones end up in crowded orphanages. Last year 2 hurricanes hit the country, causing even more devastation. The figures are horrifying, I know. 7 former orphans call me Aunt. Anyways, Sion Fonds helps out remote villages because otherwise, they have no hope of surviving as integral families.
PIGGY INK is so excited to take part in their charitable work. The cards are beautiful, and Bernice's poetry is full of love and Christmas wonder.
