All members of the Republican Party should be totally ashamed of their party’s actions at present. It is blatantly obvious that all the Republican Party cares about is getting back in power by any means possible. They seem to care nothing about trying to solve our country’s problems. They are the party of “NO” simply because their game plan is to make sure President Obama and the Democratic Congress are unsuccessful in anything they attempt to accomplish no matter what. Then they’ll campaign on how the Democrats have accomplished nothing. They seem to think their followers are that stupid and uncaring as not to see through their plan of party over country.
There was an article on the Shreveport Times Sunday op-ed page this past Sunday entitled “This is partisanship at its worst” that sums it up rather well. It was written by Dr. John Sigle, a professor emeritus at LSU-Shreveport. Quote: “ There are now several examples of Republican members of Congress supporting a bill (even sponsoring it) until President Obama expresses support, then switching sides and opposing the bill."
"The Conrad-Gregg bill was an effort to get a handle on spending by creating a bipartisan commission, modeled after the base closings commission, to develop a plan to address the nation’s soaring budget deficits. On Jan 23, Obama expressed support for the bill. On Jan 26, the bill was defeated with six Republican senators who had co-sponsored the bill voting against it.” Absolutely shameful behavior!
“There are now hundreds of examples of Republican members of Congress voting against last year’s stimulus bill and complaining how horrible it is, then going to ground-breaking ceremonies for local projects it funded and taking credit for them.” Absolutely shameful behavior! Do they think their followers are so stupid that they won’t realize the truth? They must think so. I read where some Republican Congressmen who had gone on TV and harped that absolutely no jobs would be created by this bill are now actually going to local ceremonies in their state and taking credit for the new jobs being announced. Geeez, have they no shame!
The Republican Party is willing to let no progress be made on solving health care in America, creating new jobs, improving education, etc for the next three more years just so they can have a stronger campaign position to get back in office. Truly shameful behavior -- bringing all progress to a halt, regardless of what issue is involved, so that they can then in the next campaign shout about how little Obama and Democrats have been able to do. Were I a Republican, I’d be too ashamed to admit it. How can anyone who cares about America approve of the current Republican tactics?
