Raw Clams On The Half Shell 11/2/2010 6:03:02 AM
I Love Oyster Rockefeller... Oyster Rockefeller is made with spinach and chesses, and of course clams on the half shell. It is a hot dish-baked.
Last night at a seafood specialty house I decided to try
the raw oysters on the half shell.
They came out on a snow cone style bed of ice.
In the center was a serving scoop of fresh horseradish.
I love horseradish.
Also was a fresh cup of some sort of red horseradish sauce.
I asked the server if she was familiar with raw oysters. She cringed her nose and said no.
I asked her to ask the cook:
"Do I just suck them down? Or do I chew them?"
she said she sees people doing both...
ahhh-haa!! Variety...well going for the gusto I sucked one very cold and chilled raw questionable into my mouth
and holy canolie!! The question was answered by my pallet!
DEEELISH!!
I could hardly believe how good they were.
I have heard people say they are slimy like snot-and that
alone grossed me out. Well let me tell you they were nothing
like I ever heard them described. The flavors were amazing
did I suck them down or chew them?
BOTH...it is a sensual thing to say the least.
as for the aphrodisiac effect? Good Golly Miss Molly!
