Observations of 2013 and in Retrospect 11/13/2013 5:03:36 PM
When I first started posting on Author's Den my life was very different than it is now.
I really had not written that much, and in truth my motivation was more of a capitalistic nature. And although I accomplished my goal of paying cash for my daughter's college education, my writing never really evolved and I never honed what talent I have as a writer. I just did "good enough".
It was not because I do not WANT to be a better writer, it was really because I simply could not dedicate enough time to my art.
I do not want to be careful anymore. I am at the point in my life for many reasons, that I do not want to pretend that I do not want to do not know anything about particular controversial or offensive issues or subjects.
At this point in my life I realize that I certainly do not expect young people to learn from my mistakes, because frankly- they do not give a f*** about what I think and really would usually prefer to enjoy or suffer from their dumb-assed mistakes rather than listen to someone who could possibly save them years of grief and boatloads of money. Whatever. Go for it.
I can, however, offer kinship to many people who have been trying hard to find someone who understands many of life's unusual difficulties.
It is necessary for me to make this statement in order for me to continue writing, because I will no longer write in order to make everyone happy. I am now writing in order to convey my feeling and observations concerning the world and the human condition as I have experienced it.
I have never been in competition with anyone in my genre of lesbian erotica. If there was a competition it was certainly one-sided.
