Enchanting story with gorgeous artwork,

My husband and I are huge Newfoundland dog lovers. When I saw this book I knew I had to add it to our collection. I first bought the digital version, because frankly I didn't have the patience to wait for the print copy to arrive in the mail. I bought the printed copy as a gift for my husband and our future daughter who will be coming home from China later this year. I know they will read and re-read this beautiful story together many times over the years. I think this will be a perfect story for our child, who like Bernice in the story, may feel different at times from the other children. I think it sends a positive message that different is not just ok, it can really be quite wonderful! My husband loved the gift. He ooohhhhed and aaahhhed over the stunning watercolor art and he was deeply touched by the sweet story. The subtitle of the book "Oh my gosh, it's a bear!" is a line we have heard literally hundreds (if not thousands) of times when we take our Newfs out in public. This is now in my top five picks for all children's books. Buy it! I promise you won't be disappointed. p.s. Somehow we lucked out and got a copy that was signed by both the author AND Bernice! What a wonderful surprise!!
