Our students return from doing their practical in Gauteng
It feels almost like the time Jesus sent out his 72 disciples in Luke10, so that they could go out and preach what He taught them. They returned and asked many questions about problems they encountered while speaking to the people, but they were also full of joy and excited about the beautiful things that had happened, and that they could see how God works in the hearts of people. And so our students went out to learn how to do, how to go out and explain those thing which they had learned. With new eyes they will now look at the work they have to learn, and have a better understanding of where their knowledge is inadequate. And how wonderful for our DCMA students, that it should be at that occasion as described in the 21th verse of Luke 10 where Jesus thanked His father, because He helped small children to understand these deep things from God, while grown and clever people could not. Pray with us that we will never forget this lesson in our training of the Deaf.

Rev. Mia says “Yes”
In our November Newsletter we asked you to please pray with us that the Lord will open our path, and that He must provide another lecturer for 2007. By then we had already called Rev. Mia and asked for your prayers in this regard. Thank you for praying with us. Rev. Mia has said yes and we can now go ahead with our 2 separate year groups each with it’s own lecturer. Much research work will have to be done because during our first year we recognised many areas where radical adjustments are required in our course for our students. With Rev. Mia and Rev. Jan both giving their full attention to this, there should be good progress in shaping, personalising and interpreting the contents so that it can be presented in Sign Language and better understood by our Deaf students.
Complete curriculum now available
There were a few changes in the personel of Veritas International, and the changes to be made to the course and curriculum took much longer than initially planned. This has now been finalised and we have just recently received the complete course and sent it to the participating churches for their approval or for proposed adjustments and for them to see which aspects of the Christian learning are sufficient or which they would like presented to their students from another angle. The Churches will now also be asked what other material they want to teach their students during their last year. This is the reason we do not lecture subjects like church regulations, liturgy or formulae or specific theological points of reference during the first three years, but we give each church the opportunity to present their understanding of the Bible and that which is peculiar to their own believers. Each church has the choice to send lecturers themselves, for whom we will provide interpreters, or alternately to request DCMA lecturers to present their lectures. We believe that in this way we will be a good example to the hearing world of how all believers should co-operate and work together as one Body of Christ.
Diploma ceremony and Thank You opportunity
The end of the year presented ideal opportunities to look back on a year during which DCMA was born. The first was Friday 24 November, when our students, together with DCSA (Deaf College South Africa) received acknowledgement for the work they did during the year. The DCSA students received diplomas for various subjects completed, while our DCMA students received progress certificates for completing part of their course (module one). This was a splendid opportunity to mention that these students of ours are the first Deaf people to walk this new road, the leaders that opens the road for many other students to come who will be shaped, strengthened and prepared by the Lord for the great work that awaits: To go and say to other Deaf: This is what the Lord says!!!
The second function was a thank you gathering which Geoff arranged in the hall of the Strooidak church in Paarl, where we met many of our sponsors to thank them for opening their hearts so generously for this great cause. Our students performed, told them something of themselves, showed them how one should really sing, not only with your voice, but also with your hands and body. They also mimed a short presentation of what DCMA means to the Deaf. And to those of you who pray for us, and those who contribute

Thank you that you are willing to be the Lord’s hands and feet, or to make it possible for other people to do learn about Him. In heaven one day we will see what the Lord did with our few rands, with our prayers and with what we gave as our offerering to the Lord. And yes, I believe that many Deaf will come and say thank you that they were able to hear about our Lord and saw His Word as a result of your giving.
Students for 2007
To date we have had interviews with three Deaf who would like to come and study next year. We expect there will be a few more but realise that it will probably be better should we have a smaller class next year. One professor at the North Central University in the USA was surprised to hear that we had seven students in our first year class, their average is two Deaf students per year. Please pray with us that the right number and the right students will register for 2007.
Blesséd Christmas
With this News letter we want to wish all our readers a Christmas in which they will experience the Lord’s presence, and feel the Love He has for us that made Him to decided to leave Heaven and come to earth to save us from our sins.
