What is this world coming to when a five year old child is handcuffed and carted off for psychiatric evaluation for having a tantrum? A temper tantrum is in no way a good enough reason to handcuff a child and it is totally unacceptable. Do you mean to tell me that adults could not constrain a five year old child without using handcuffs as though they were a criminal? Besides, tantrums are not uncommon in children nor adults for that matter. Since when is it alright for a child to be subjected to such abuse? Being handcuffed in itself can possibly cause psychological trauma to a child Children do not understand the concept of being handcuffed.

By the time the child is hauled off for evaluation for throwing a tantrum, he or she may also need to be evaluated from the trauma of being handcuffed and, taken against their will. I understand that some children are rude and disruptive but what happened to the ordinary way one usually tries to tame an unruly child?

It's not like the child is older, bigger or stronger than the adult who is restraining the child. It's a pint size 5-year-old child. Anyone who allows a child that young to get the best of them, should NOT be in that line of work in the first place. If the person with the authority has to stoop to that level to restrain a child then, how are they supposed to protect the ones in which his or her job entails? I think that person should be retrained in order to maintain the standard operating procedures of their job description.
