stand behind cinnamon
mortar less masonry
eased edge
stone walls
Rectangular Rocked Walled
and cinnabar
stoned posted barbed wire
steel strung fields
channel the roads
Mounds of Soft Sandstone
mild beet coloured
striated dull carrot colours
dribble into the white
Cow-‐patrolled streets
spitting hard
black marble pellets
Testament of the Future
to be added to
a father’s small achievement
with more family geometry
when success overcomes
the poverty gift
from a red--crossed colonial past
Very interesting, especially the multi generational building of these homes, "as poverty would allow." And the last line of alluding to India's colonial past.
Would like to see how those houses are constructed close up.
Red rocks is to Rajasthan , just as marble rocks is to jabalpur in MP. But of marble rock they build statues , not homes!!Look up my poem "For the marble rocks i sing. 'J K Roseline
Interesting way of the houses continuously being added to with the materials found close by apparently, in this case mostly red rock of different hues and shapes I'm sure, by different generations. Would like to check them out, and think I will go on a"hunt" on this friendly (sometimes) Internet.
