The Gate

A moment in a timeless fantasy

Where joys and sorrows are beyond divine,

Lay the withered pangs of lost ecstasy.

Strains of reality forced the decline.

Mountains, once conquered, are now lost again.

Valleys inhabited, sing lonely song.

Oceans whip and wave, mourning a mind’s end,

As turmoil encompasses it life long.

Sensuous lips caressing a smooth frame.

Hands that run along a muscular form,

Intertwined, where love and lust are the same.

Inhale deeply, the real, and cause the storm.

The gate shuts and the key is tossed aside

Where imagination will not abide.

Beautifully written, plaintive write. Yet one that also relates love and gratitude toward its muse. Puts the reader in the Gothic mode...

We all don't know where our inspirations come from; but it can also be disappeared very easily, While we're on a speedroad for inspiration, but then it (the inspiration) can also come to a screeching halt after someone delivers a message to us. It has always been like that with many of us.

I think when our inspirations strikes, we write a lot; but then, it can also disappear very quickly. That is why we need to keep our creative juices flowing.

A very thought-provoking write, and much of it is truth. It has been like that with me recently anyway.

The gatekeepers make sure that we will lose our imagination, but we poets and dreamers, abide. Wonderful message, wonderfully written, Mary.

Meter superb. Words haunting. Premise, lost love and forlorn life. Result, sad to read but touchingly so.
