Each chair surrounding it a different period

The first seat representing my early years…

Clumsy, eager, awkward, excited

Youth is the next chair

Consumed with bike riding, games and friends

Uncomplicated and eager to grow up

Reaching the age when I knew it all

I was not satisfied with my boundaries

Baby sitting, homework and chores, all seemed a burden.

PLEASE PASS THE TIME

The chair at the end symbolizes my teen years

Unlimited goals and potential surround me

Craving independence and eager to experience life

My freedom still squashed by curfew.

Moving on…The next seat is marriage.

Happiness and love surround me.

The arrival of children changes my priorities.

No longer what we want, but what is best.

As young parents our options were limited.

Saving our coin, he worked days while I remained home 

No sitter for us, with my shift at night he shared an equal hand

Surrounded by their angelic faces and unconditional love

PLEASE PASS THE TIME

Their teenage years were trying

Sports, school and job schedules creating chaos

Hoping to strike a balance between firm and mean

Not wanting our tender side to appear easy

They have become independent young adults

Dreams I put on the back burner are heating up

Full of ideas and eager to create

I now have opportunity so….
