If I could change the world,

I would start with me.

I’d recapture my early dreams,

And set my caged spirit free

So it could once more share

In the wonder of true love

With someone for whom I care.

I’d open up my mind

To let new knowledge accrue,

And use it to help my fellow man

See the world anew.

My smile would be quicker

And my anger slower to rise

I’d treat each day as if

It was a wonderful surprise.

I’d live each day as if were my last,

And do my very best

To spread cheer and happiness

To help others feel well blessed.

So I will begin to change the world

In what little ways I see,

And I’ll begin the changes needed

By first changing me.
