I wander through the house;
Its emptiness heavy on my heart
There are so many decisions to make
I don’t know where to start
All the things you did
Now fall to me to do,
But at this moment,
All I can do is feel the loss of you.
Each letter that arrives
Brings a new flood of tears.
I can no longer follow
The pattern we've shared for years.
I’d sort the letter yours from mine
And take them to you with cheer.
I'd hand them over to you singing
“The merry mailman’s here.”
Tonight I’ll turn the light off
In the room at the end of the hall.
It will be the first time
Since I made the call
That brought the ambulance and medics,
Who tried to keep everything they knew,
But giving you back to me
Was something they couldn’t do.
Yes, I wander through the house
Its emptiness heavy on my heart,
But I’m first and last your daughter,
And you taught me well my part.
Somehow I move forward from here,
And be stronger for my loss and pain;
And when my life is over,
We’ll be together once again.
Lovely tribute to your father Bobbi. It rhymes very good and speaks volumes. tke care loveu G

Such a tender loving piece. You're in my prayers.
The Rose Beyond The Wall
A rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall.
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall.
One day, a beam of light shone through
a crevice that had opened wide.
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
then passed beyond to the other side.
Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
be comforted, the rose blooms there.
Its beauty even greater now,
nurtured by God's own loving care.
Such moving poetry Bobbi, I remember these feelings when my father passed! We were very close. My thoughts are with you as you go through the adjustment....
Ahhh, my friend, I'm happy to see that you have used your grief therapuetically and oh, so beautifully. This is a wonderful tribute to your dad. My heart aches for you, dear one.
Such a sad write, Bobbi. You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Nothing is more painful that having to clear the closets, divide the property with other family members and say goodbye to those closest to us.
Take care.
