There’s no doubt about it
Life is a chancy thing.
One day you’re in the depths of hell
The next you want to sing.
It never is the big stuff
That brings us to our knees.
It’s always the piddling aggravations
Robbing us of our ease.
Matters of life and death
We face with strength and grace,
But empty gas tanks, screaming kids
And burnt dinners will our poise erase.
Elation is just as strange
Think of what makes you laugh.
Which do you think is funnier
A clown or an ice skating giraffe?
That’s a silly question
No two of us are the same
Because for some life is a constant challenge,
But for others it’s just a game.
So take what joy life gives you
And cherish it in your soul,
And when troubles seem to beset you
Let making it to tomorrow’s joy be your goal.
