Sitting on the step one day,
contemplating
the nature of things:
the immensity
of the universe, and
complicated life.
Down the street came a lad,
he was, maybe five:
grimy face, and dirty hands,
yet with wonder in his eyes.
His pants were draggin'
but he ran to grab
just one more little stone.
This he crammed
into bulging drawers
with a delighted grin.
When he noticed me,
out came his chest,
his smile big and proud:
"I've got pockets!"
Sitting on the step one day,
contemplating
on the nature of things:
the immensity
of the human spirit, and
simplicity of life.
How beautiful this is...if we only take time to look at things simply and to appreciate life in that way, well, I think we'd all be so much better off.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
