Crisis

Unending chain of
relentless days.
What day is it, anyway?
Little details strike me:
I like the colors in this chair,
these are nice murals,
this could be done differently --
while major details have
numbed my mind,
hopelessly out of control.
I capture moments of
restless sleep,
wander sanitized hallways
in a groggy daze.
Meetings come and go
with specialists, social workers,
they all blur in my memory.
What was your name again?
I've been in these clothes for two days --
Oh, what I wouldn't give
for a nice, hot shower.
Information trickles too slowly,
days go by too quickly.
I need to call my boss.
Will I still have a job?
One crisis turns into two ...
three?
Thank God he made humans resiliant!
Muscles get sore from
sleeping in too many chairs.
Tempers get short.
The strain pulls hard,
but tension cannot break a heart --
we still have each other.
Love grows stronger
as we struggle together,
pull together,
this is only a crisis.
This too, shall pass.
