We all have dreams, from youthful blush,
before we learn we're s'pposed to "hush!"
They expand and grow, with horizons new,
till we feel we've found what's right to do.
But then we find that dreams don't pay,
so we put the idea of them away;
for "dreamers seldom accomplish much,
'cept for poetry, songs, and books as such;
and there's much work that must be done
before the setting of the evening sun."
So we strive at life, and build our schemes, and
hide from prying eyes our dreams
lest they be revealed, and viewed with scorn,
then ridicule must be borne --
so we bury our dreams beneath a stone,
till we join them there, one day, alone.
Then the silent sentinels of sleeping souls
guard us there till they call the roll --
what profit, then, from being chaste?
What goals of life must now lay waste?
now tell me, friend, what good it seems
to live a life devoid of dreams?
I like the line, "so we bury our dreams beneath a stone, till we joing them there, one day, alone." It's sad when people give up their dreams, Dallas. You've captured the tragedy.

I once heard it said that "dreams without actions are delusions." So tragic that people bury their dreams under more pragmatic notions. But how the heart suffers when we do such.
