Unsaid  Words

We meet and exchange
congenial greetings,
while unsaid words
tug at our hearts, and
tear at our souls.
Although unsaid,
both hearts have heard,
and cry,
straining to be released --
to say the words, and
be happy we did!

Selfish love cries out
to be released,
to feed upon our
heart and soul,
while hanging in the balance are
spouses, children,
lives and work --
all poised upon the brink
of the catastrophe:
unsaid word's released.

Unselfish love
must sacrifice itself upon
the altar of passion stemmed --
thus abolish guilt,
and pain, and
broken lives.

Can you love me,
hopelessly,
repress desire and
stay the words
that break taboos and
bring us down,
crashing into the abyss
of remorse, and guilt,
and pain?
Can you love me silently, and
let them remain unsaid words?

Beautifully written, Dallas, and I especially like your last stanza.

To stem the tide of words is courage at its best, Dallas. Thinking of others rather than self and doing what is right. If only more people would leave such words unsaid fewer children would grow up in broken homes.

Yes, the pressure builds behind the dam, rivers of passion swell to a crescendo and force cracks in the flimsy mortar of restraint. Do we stand firm and repair the cracks, or let a word slip? If so, mighty oceans of "unsaid words" and emotions tear loose in blinding fury. Great poem Dallas. Really loved this one. Felt this so many times. "You cannot stop the love" as the French would say. So hard to hold back--battle of fiery passion versus cold reason.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
