Nakhon Phenom Glistening white jewel nestled Into an emerald necklace, Strung upon the Mekong River. The mountains of Laos beckon from The opposite bank. The Thai are beautiful people, Friendly and happy, yet The tensions of war linger, Watching from the jungle. In the midst of the city, the Blue and gold lace of A Buddhist temple Adds the only color to A city of whitewashed buildings. Welcome to Nakhon Phenom. Dallas D'Angelo-Gary 08

Reminds me of the suspicion of the Thai people when I visited much of the country in '78. The tension of war was even greater then--GI welcome, tourist or CIA?
