You have such a soft and gentle heart.. but it isnt about making it up to your son.. its about him learning who you are.. lift that load off your shoulders and just love him. Hes lucky.. some never know who their father is. This is a truly heartfelt write and I hope it had something cathartic in it for you and you find some peace. katy. xox

I always tell the youngsters that come chat to me, parents arnt perfect they get it wrong too sometimes. Remember, that to be in your childs memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today. Much better to have two happy seperated parents than two that stay together and argue.

Guilt still plagues me being apart from my kids but at the time i think it was worse with all the fighting.

unfortunately children are in a 'me' phase of their lifes where everything is directly related to them, so they easily accept self blame for other's actions. the really sad thing is when adults never grow out of that 'me' phase and yet still refuse to accept the responsibility for their actions, ends up in a very confusing world for adults, imagine what it is like for the kids

Roger, Yes it's very hard on the children. (I am a stepmother, I am fully aware of thier feelings as well as yours. My stepdaughter has never recovered the divorce ...she is now 26 married with 3 children of her own.) This is an excellent write!

Roger, It is apparent that children say things because they don't understand certain situations. And they don't understand them because they are children. They aren't meant to comprehend adult situations. There will come a time when you and your son will be able to embrace the moments and move on from there. I write alot for the children. They
don't understand when Mommy and Daddy
fight...they think they are to blame.

have problems I think all kids do
