Snow filled skies,
weeping willow trees leaning on virgin snow.
Emotions frozen, unable to thaw,
uncontrollable tears lost in the fight
to deny what truly is.
Cuddling by the open fire,
lying free from the stress of the outside world.
Apprehended as a victim of fate,
In a blink of an eye we became united as one.
Escaping from all surrounding pressures,
Sitting on a magical sled,
flying through the crystals
overlooking all that has caused heartache and pain.
Standing still while life carries on,
immured emotions wanting to be freed.
Closing my eyes, I see your face.
You cradle my head,
And place your soft lips up against mine.
I fear no more because life has always let me down,
So I vow to stand by your side ready to lift you.
When you’re down,
I’ll be your angel
And never let you fall.
When I’m with you, the earth melts under my feet.
No one forced me to feel, see through your eyes,
or yearn for the warmth of your body next to mine.
You’ve made my dreams come true .
Taught me to laugh, showing me life is worth living.
Together we will walk into the sunset,
searching deep within our souls.
And always knowing that whatever lies in our path,
That united we will stand, untied we’ll fall.
It's written deeply and felt truly in your lines Karen!

Another excellent write. You have a wonderful talent for describing those emotions we often cut short and simply call it 'love'. Your talent at capturing the essence of those feelings is outstanding and well displayed in this write.
This is a good one to say the least. I have a few others here on the den -- the infamous dark epic titled "Seasons of Black September" and "Stygian Skies." They say there is a taboo if you are from New York is not to be dark about that day -- here I am being from Illinois, where our winters are longer than most. Belting out a poem like Seasons -- the thing that would get to you is the opening poem in the epic. "Concrete and steel tombs."

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
