I wrote these song lyrics in the summer of 2003, as I began grieving the loss of a man I love. This one is for Jim.
On His Way by The Poetess (SRP)
You've gone back Home and left me here alone
With an emptiness inside and tears I can not hide.
When I stopped to think of you and all that we didn't do
You came to embrace the tears on my face.
I heard your spirit say. . .in a gentle loving way,
"It's ok, Kid. Remember what we did."
I didn't want you to go beyond this Earth, we know
Though I still feel you near, I wish you were here.
I'll need time to heal the sadness I feel.
But I will clear the way to hear the words you say.
When I see the Northern Lights glowing in the sky
I'll stop and think of you, so you can watch them too.
And when I wonder where you are, I'll look up to the stars
Just to know that your ok - an angel on his way.
But I'll be missing you. I'll be missing you.
Andy Turner,
Yes this was due to a sudden death - a heart attack. But since then Jim has come to hold and comfort me, in my dreams. I still miss him and the future we had planned. But I am not still grieving as I was when I wrote this. And oh yes, "love is worth the price". It truly is far "better to have loved and lost than to have not loved at all."
The pain that lingers is shown here in full pelt.
Is this due to an unexpected death.
Your candid heart and metaphors are very deep.
Love is worth the price we mortals have to pay.
