I wrote these lyrics in the early 1990s as I did some deep soul searching.

 Finding my Friend
by the Poetess (SRP)

In the East I climbed to the tallest peak
Over every mountain I did seek.
In the South I waded through jungles of green

Got lost in the thicket, forever, it seemed.

In the West I rode. . .facing much pain
Groping to find my dear friend again.

In the North I laid over frozen streams

Waiting for an answer to come in my dreams.

On the Earth I sat in the warm sunshine

Praying for a vision of this friend of mine.
To the Skies I gazed with eyes open wide

Looking for the place where she might hide.

Then One day I stepped up the smallest hill
Where inside my door step I sat very still.
I opened my heart and began to see

The Love I had searched for. . .inside of me.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and taking the the final step of one, leads to another. Journey on. Patrick

So insightly meaningful are these verses, Poetess. I have often pondered (and written) about this theme. You have shared it very well via your verses here. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Regis

So much dealing with finding one's self. This is absolutely wonderful. I also loved the imagery.
