They cry for the Renaissance man
For to cause the ladies to sigh
To melt in formed curtsy
As he sashays by
The ladies cast rose pedals
To cushion his step
The children mass bow
In tribute salute
His charisma abounding
As bows meet his eye
He parades as a prince would
In sweeping passby
The horses pound hoofs
In salute to his sway
The ladies in waiting
All wilt in faint sigh
His words bound in noble
All dressed for the ball
The banquet awaits
Where his words will stand tall
The hushed crowd awaits him
Sound banished in time
They bow again to please him
Whilst sitting, planting elbow set to thigh
As heralds in heaven awaited his words
He looked up in sober
These things to expound
Stoic and somber
First uttered words yes cast
The crowd fell in hushed now
As dagger to eye
For he sang not the sonnets
That once made them cry
Nor the dream merchants
Potion to usher in loves sigh
No, he spoke of such grave things
Quite harsh to the ear
For the words tickled not
The hard hearted that day
Nor bred fanciful merriment
To pass in the way
For he spoke words of mystery
So different to ear
Earnest and modest words
Some hovered in fear
His words rang of noble
Lofty things indeed
High places in heart
And love freely breathed
He stripped off his garment
Scars bared to be seen
The gallery bowed quietly
In desperate doom
For their cry was for beauty
And he now brought them gloom
His air once regal
Now tattered tarnished indeed
For he unveiled his heart,
One,
They had never seen.

Ahhhh.. NOW he's a man I could love.. how easily we place people in lofty places, then stare in horror when finding they are, by nature, human.. what a lovely 'setting' you chose to gently remind us of our own frailties.. for they are exactly what, in the end, we are most drawn to, if we of any real substance be! Superb, Rodney! katy.

I have never been a believer in "clothes maketh the man" it is the soul, the heart that carries the truth of who we are. You, seannachie carry the very essence of heart, your words bare a soul full of truth. Mal.
