My Heart Now Gone

Where lieth my heart this day
Alas, where doth she roam
For I sold her for freedom and stardom untold
Pure heart indeed, did I tote then at ten
Scented fresh goodness, basking in clean

I painted it over in etched hardness unknown
I walked as an outlaw, a choir boy untold
Wide berth all gave me as I roamed where I pleased
No man dare engage me, they knew my name rage
Outlaw, hardened, dangerous, all wagged in tongue

My mask had well covered my virgin heart untold
My visage now altered tattles to all where I've roamed
I walked in clothed majesty as a warrior of Rome
The aged fainting in the way, the young lasses running home
No man dare withstood me, for the fury my eye doth hold

I lay now on honest bed, alone now in my life
Bed scented in torture, mildew, dark strife
I walked as it pleased me, thinking fortune I'd find
I marched as a warrior, heart betrayed, left behind
For all mocked its tenderness at ten standing tall

My heart now cold and black, vaulted and tight
For I rode as fierce warrior in the dead of the night
But now in my whispering of soul now relived
I miss more than ever, my heart left at six
I laugh as a minstrel, yet inside sigh as the dead

As I now lay at deaths door, my chariot awaits
Only one request have I lingering indeed
I pray now my young heart be returned unto me
So my sleep shall be free, scented with her next to me
For yea, what I searched for 'twas she all along.

"Scented fresh goodness, basking in clean"...
"So my sleep shall be free, scented with her next to me". . .What a song you sing! What a big heart and soulful imagination you have!!

This was so beautiful, I could imagine myself listening to a wonderful bard, playing his instrument and singing this wonderful ballad, how lovely your poetry is,

so wonderfully done,

Loved stanza three.....but really it all was brilliant...You charm the words clean off the page. ;)

S~I~G~H.. You are such a romantic, Rodney.. your words seem to float from the page, harmonize, an emotional 'chorale'.. this is a roller-coaster of a ride here, but isn't emotion just that? A grand piece, you. katy.
