Long is your journey and the horizon out of sight

Wait not till weary be your spirit

To pull aside, savor a soft breeze, rest your limb

And seek a moment quiet


Lofty indeed is your goal

But, if you pause not on your stroll

And seek no contemplation to console

When you get there, restless is your soul


The destination is sweet

Only if you march to your beat

While eschewing all conceit,

Ignoring rhetoric on hoi polloi vs. elite


What counts for thy glory is not your raiment

Neither the majestic peaks you climbed, nor the company you kept

But, if for your sojourners you offered any gift

If thy companionship made their journey pleasant, and if thy virtue offered them a true easement
